Introduction
Murnau Bf in February, 1979. A BR 169 prepares to take another Lokalbahn train to Oberammergau. A BR 160 heads up a unit train of empty ballast hoppers bound for Eschenlohe and the Hartsteinwerk Werdenfels rock quarry. |
This website was designed to provide information about the railways in the area around Murnau, Germany, which is in southern Bavaria (Oberbayern). I have a great interest in German railways in this area, and have decided to build a layout centered around Murnau. It is my goal to update this site as I build the layout and gather more information on the prototype. Most of the photos on this site (especially the ones I took!) will not win any photo contests. Since I can't visit Murnau on a regular basis, I did my best to capture details I felt would be important in modeling this region. Photos that may seem boring with no clear subject may contain a specific detail a modeler would like to recreate on his/her layout.
If you have information about any of the areas mentioned in the following pages, or have corrections to the existing data, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks for visiting!
